Sonny Molloy’s Irish Whiskey Bar

Just a brief stroll down High Street will bring you to the door of Sonny Molloy’s Irish Whiskey Bar

The once famous drapery shop was run by the legendary Galwegian, Sonny Molloy. Sonny was a man of considerable achievement, though very modest, he was a larger than life character. The building itself was part of a Medieval property built in the 1600’s, some of which formed part of the old Galway city walls. The counter of the bar is still the very same as when Sonny himself worked behind it!

Sonny appreciated a good pint of Guinness and a whiskey. His personal favourite being Redbreast 12 year old or on special occasions he would choose a dram of Jameson 18 year old. With beautiful old world architecture and original furnishings Sonny Molloy’s is a lively local at the heart of the Galway community.

It was a dream come true for Sonny Molloy’s to have their own whiskey label, when Redbreast Whiskey chose Sonny Molloy’s as the first on-trade establishment in the word to release the now sold out Redbreast 16 Year Old All Sherry Single Cask. Due to demand, a new Sonny Molloy’s Redbreast 19 year Oloroso Sherry Single Cask was then released, it’s a truly special whiskey that can be purchased by the measure or bottle in the bar, or through their online whiskey shop.

The award winning bar is brimming with cabinets of the finest Irish Whiskey. It’s one of the only venues in the world to display the complete Midleton Very Rare collection, a sight to be seen for any whiskey drinker. And is now home to Chapter 1, 2,3 and 4 from the Silent Distillery Collection - the rarest Irish whiskey ever produced.

You can also become a member of the popular ‘Sonny Molloy’s Whiskey Society’ with a host of exclusive events organised throughout the year for members.
