O’Connell’s
O’Connell’s is a traditional-style pub with tons of energy and a warm inviting atmosphere.
Established in 1862 It was once a grocery and small bar but has been solely a pub since the 1970’s. The décor is truly stunning with most of it’s original fixtures and fittings still intact. These include tiled floors, antique lighting, stained glass windows, solid wooden seating plus an amazing pressed tin ornate ceiling in the front bar.
Inside its historic walls you will find a wide selection of craft beers, wines and premium spirits from all around the world. They are well known for their large whiskey and gin selection.
This is the bar where Ed Sheeran filmed the music video for the hit song ‘’Galway Girl’’.
O’Connell’s has one of Galway’s biggest and best beer gardens. This hidden gem consists of two outside bars, an old Victorian street known as Gin Lane. The garden has plenty of seating is partially covered and heated so even in winter you can at least pretend Ireland has a warm climate!
They are also home to local heroes ‘The Dough Bros’ who have a pizza shop in the beer garden.
